Willkommen im Forum

Liebe Besucher,
Liebe Devotees,

Radharani's Appearance Day

Shrimati Radharani's Appearance Day

Many years ago, during a Vaishnava festival, we had a friendly philosophical discussion with a priest of Shri Sampradaya. One thing he vehemently criticized at Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's school was that Shri Krishna and Shrimati Radharani are virtually equal and even worshipped together. Visibly indignant, he then made it unmistakably clear:

"There are not four lotus feet, but only two - Shri Vishnu's!
Only He is the goal of our worship."

At that time my wife and I were very amused about this statement, which was of course justified from his point of view, and even today I have to smile about it 🙂

We all know the experience: Whenever it dawns on us (even if only temporarily), what these "four lotus feet" actually mean for us and our future, all problems dissolve into air, and body and mind relax in pleasant warmth and joy. At least until - in the spiritual beginner stage - the avidya-shakti (power of ignorance) takes over again and directs our focus of consciousness back into the shadow realm of matter, where the old worries and problems immediately welcome us with a wink.

Babaji Maharaja once said: "Avidya is our eternal companion". Avidya is the actual cause of the suffering of living beings, this is confirmed by all Vedic schools, and Buddha also sees in it the root of all evil. This avidya-shakti can only be permanently shaken off by powerful, Guru-supported sadhana, which of course includes the study of (Bhakti-)Shastra and, ideally, association with devotees.

To hear about the pastimes that Kṛṣṇa regularly performs is nectar for the ears. For those who relish just a single drop of that nectar, even once, their dedication to material duality is ruined. Many such persons have suddenly given up their wretched homes and families and, themselves becoming wretched, traveled here to Vṛndāvana to wander about like birds, begging for their living.
