Today is the disappearance day of Shri Haridas Shastri Maharaj ji. He departed from this mortal world in 2013 and left behind him a treasure house of primary literature on bhakti, academic book translations and essays. He already attained the supreme goal and those who are following him and his faithful followers will be reaching the same destination at Shri Krishna's eternal abode serving Him there together and blissfully.
The following is an excerpt from the introduction of one of Maharaj ji's wonderful literatures entitled Dharma-sangraha, translated from Hindi and Sanskrit into English by his disciple Ajith Kumar:
The best adherence to dharma,
or the greatest righteousness, involves
being devoted to the welfare of all living beings.
All living entities must be able to trust human beings and thereby,
having confidence in them, be able to live in joy and happiness.
This is the essence of the Lord’s injunctions.
For this situation to occur, it is necessary to be trained
in developing an inclination towards the Lord.
The important activities here include first knowing and understanding
the Lord’s instructions, offering respect to qualified persons
beginning with one’s parents, who are one’s first Gurus,
as well as to other teachers, following their instructions,
being grateful to the Lord,
treating His name, form, qualities, activities, associates and places with respect
and accepting food and other items offered to Him with reverence.
A person becomes great only by satshiksha, virtuous education.
Education about the Lord is the highest amongst all virtuous education.
This book is the foremost amongst texts teaching sadachara.
By reading it, people will attain supreme peace in their lives.
