Field Meditations
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
idaṁ śarīraṁ kaunteya kṣetram ity abhidhīyate
etad yo vetti taṁ prāhuḥ kṣetra-jña iti tad-vidaḥ
Śrī Bhagavān said:
This body, O son of Kuntī, is called the field (kṣetra). The knowers of reality call the one who knows the field (or realizes this), knower of the field (kṣetrajña).
Bhagavad Gītā 13.1
Shri Babaji Maharaja in „Hinduism“, Part 16, regarding the above verse:
This body is called field.
Why is it called field?
Because just like in the field you throw some seeds
and then some plants and trees come out of that,
there is some result.
Like that with this body.
You perform karma, actions.
They are like the seeds,
and then you get the result,
the result will also come in the body.
What is the result?
The result is ultimately of two types,
happiness and distress.
Either that action will lead you to some material happiness
or to material distress.
These are the two types of fruits coming from this body.
